Starting out without a hard hat!

So everyone is screaming, "Trades, trades!" ... and where does it all begin? Why, in school, of course! Go to school for six months and you will step out of class smelling like roses, everyone will love to get their hands on you..
This isn't always the case. When you step out of trade school, you have to keep in mind that you still don't have that wonderful little thing called, OJT (on job training)
When you graduate your school, you think your qualified... and you are! Your just not competent. These employers, especially those in the construction trade, are wanting skilled workers, people with prior experience.
So, how do you get that experience, you might ask? Well, you have to start out from the bottom. Trade schools usually only provide the basic information, so that when you step out into the real world, your not as lost as others starting out would be.
Don't get discouraged! Yes, it's a little frustrating when you've devoted a lot of time and effort (money) into your schooling. Yes, you expected to land that number one job without a problem, but you've still got a start.
Now, after the disappointment wears off and you get determined to do something with yourself, go out there and start shaking some bushes..
You may not find anything at first, but there is a high demand for construction workers, and everyone had to start somewhere. Grit your teeth and work your way up. Good luck to you and happy job hunting!
